Space for the bees?
We are always looking for new sites to keep our bees. In return, you get the best pollination available.
What we need
Bees are undemanding, but we have some requirements
Sheltered south facing position
Bees do best if the hives can be positioned in the sun. It helps them maintain their nest temperature. It can't be too close to footpaths or other publicly accessible areas.
Unhindered vehicular access
To look after the bees, we need to visit them regularly throughout the year (and at odd times of the day). If we can get our old Land Rover to the site, then all is well.
Forage
Nearly everywhere has sufficient hedgerows and gardens to keep the bees busy, but large expanses of open grazing can be challenging.
Long term commitment
Moving bees is disruptive for the colonies. We would expect to keep hives on a site for a minimum duration.
What you get
There are many benefits to you
Free pollination
The surrounding area will be flooded with honey bees which over time brings additional pollinators. Better crops mean more space for natural pollinators.
Free honey!
In lieu of rent, you can expect to receive some free honey from the hives on your land.
Environmental
You know you will be providing vital space for UK honey bee populations.
If you are in within a 20 miles radius of Glossop and think you have the space, then send us a message here.
